The First & Only Villa-Hotel in Singapore and already attracts Special Attention from World Travelers
After more than a century since the Sarkies Brothers inaugurated the very first Raffles Hotel in Singapore in 1887, the second Raffles Hotel is projected to open soon in 2022 at Sentosa.
This was announced last Tuesday, by the Accor Group along with its partner the Royal Group.
This hotel project will cost around S$70 million and will be built on a 100,000 sq m. site in Sentosa.
The projected average rate for each room of this hotel will be around S$1,500 per night, according to an Accor spokesperson.
Peter Wilding, the managing director of the Royal Group, said that this new Raffles Hotel will be a contemporary interpretation of the famous iconic Raffles Brand.
Wilding also added that this resort hotel will be the first of its kind in Singapore, being the only first villa-hotel in the country.
Wilding likewise said that this project is a byproduct of their extensive studies on the luxury resorts in Singapore.
These studies came up with the conclusion that there is indeed a demand for exclusive luxury resorts in Singapore that could provide privacy and security to tourists.
This proposed Raffles Sentosa Resort and Spa Hotel will have 61 villas. Each villa will be equipped with a private pool and a terrace and will have an estimated area ranging from 260 sq m. for one-bedroom villas to 450 sq m for 3-bedroom villas.
This hotel will also feature state-of-the-art facilities including a fitness centre, meeting rooms, and restaurants, and bars.
The designing and layout of this hotel are spearheaded by “Yabu Pushelberg,” a global design studio established by George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg.
Yabu Pushelberg conceptualized the resort layout, including the interiors, lightings, and landscaping.
This firm has an extensive resume for designing hotels, having formerly worked on famous luxury hotels in New York, Toronto, and St. Regis Mexico City.
Peter Wilding added that the original Raffles Hotel was primarily conceived as a beachfront hotel. However, Singapore has already expanded around the hotel.
Hence, at present, the hotel is now located in the inner part of the city’s thriving centre.
This second Raffles Hotel, therefore, will feature a resort experience that is both contemporary and elegant.
This new hotel will likewise be designed in line with the legacy of the iconic Raffles heritage hotel.
The Accor Group is bent on expanding its Raffles brand worldwide. At present, its international holdings include hotels in China and Maldives. It also includes holdings in Boston and London.
Michael Issenberg, the Asia-Pacific Chairman of Accor, meanwhile said that Raffles brand is the ultimate expression of luxurious hospitality in the country.
Hence, this second Raffles Hotel, the group is excited to offer tourists a good option for indulging in the exquisite service offered by Raffles since 1887.
